Faster still: online
If your document can be notarized online, a live online notary can often be done in minutes. Texas allows online notarization by two-way video (§406.110). See notary open now.
To speed things up
- Have every page ready and unsigned, with every signer present with ID.
- Tell the notary the document type and how many signatures, so they can quote the total.
- If you need witnesses, ask whether the notary can provide them or bring your own.
Before you book
- Every signer needs an unexpired government-issued photo ID (what ID to bring).
- Do not sign until you are in front of the notary.
- Texas caps the notarial fee itself ($10 first signature on an acknowledgment, $1 each additional; §406.024). Ask for the total, including any travel charge, before you book. See notary fees in Texas.
- Check any notary’s commission in SOS Direct.
